This is a collection of music performed by a group of students in an aftercare program in Portland,OR over the course of the 2021-2022 school year. I feel extremely lucky to have worked with these kids at this level as they are truly some of the most inspiring individuals I’ve had the joy of knowing, their art is an astonishing thing and brings me much hope that what is ahead can be brighter. All songs (with the exceptions of A Big Grey Bat, Waiting for a Century, Edie sings “Rest in Peace,” and Tooth is Gone) are entirely improvised. The idea was to center listening as the attribute of musicality being cultivated by these sessions. Enjoy!
